Fruit Juices
Across the whole European Union the most popular fruits are grown during all year. Oranges and peaches, apricots and strawberries, tangerines and cherries, apples and grapes are found throughout Europe, being available to consumers in a wide variety.
The European “juicing” industry is one of the most dynamic and developed worldwide. To this it contributes the fact, that across Europe specific legislative framework is applied that is followed strictly by everyone, ensuring thus the safety and quality of the products we consume, having at our disposal all necessary information regarding their composition, their nature and nutritional benefits.
Each juice produced in the European Union must conform to certain specifications related to composition, their minimum content, to what ingredients have been added, especially if the juice contains sweeteners, additional conservation or stabilization ingredients, and whether it comes from concentrated juice or no. In parallel, references regarding the nutritional value and health benefits must be approved and specific without misleading and misinforming consumers.
The citrus production in Cyprus (oranges, mantores, lemons) represents one of the major crops of products characterized by high nutritional value and unique taste and aroma due to the particular climatic conditions of the island. The juice of these fruits contains all the freshness, taste and flavor as if it were fresh citrus!
The juices as natural fruit derivatives have many of their nutrients and are ideal for covering one of the five portions of fruit and vegetables that should be consumed daily.
Because of the natural sugars found in fruits, also known as carbohydrates, the frequent consumption of juice stimulates and strengthens the required energy levels that we need as they are very good means of hydration, as water is the main ingredient.
Each glass of juice increases the daily fluid intake whereas especially the juices whose base is citrus, strawberry, berries or pomegranate are rich in antioxidants, such as vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin E and antioxidant polyphenols.
